The fight against cancer is presented as one of the cornerstones of European health by the European Commission. Indeed, the new European plan to overcome cancer constitutes an unprecedented commitment at the highest political level with clear objectives and substantial resources. These European ambitions represent a real hope for progress in many areas of cancer research. Many challenges related to the wide disparities and different organizational models of member states will have to be addressed when implementing the many initiatives planned.
