Digital sacredness and the mystique of technology - 2018.

This article aims to understand the relationship between religion and the internet from a non-instrumental perspective on technologies. Digital and network technologies can be understood as a contemporary receptacle of religious imaginaries more than as tools of proselytism or the proclamation of the Good News utilized by the church. Approaching technical media from an archaeological perspective allows us to observe a technological mystique that is dependent on a specific technical materiality, characterized by wireless technology and mobile devices. In common with New Age spirituality, a kind of mystique exists where the image of a reticular environment, characterized by the return of paganism, is reinforced.
