This article deals with unprotected sex in the context of online male prostitution. It highlights the experiences of clients, based on a two-year survey with thirty-four men using male escort services in France. Forgoing the use of a condom is closely linked to the interpretation that these men have of the relational context in which they feel they are engaged with their paid partner(s). In this case, transactions related to prostitution are not just an exchange of money and sexual services. By highlighting the poor knowledge of the most recent advances in HIV prevention (Pre-exposure Prophylaxis in particular), the article also underlines one of the blind spots of the perspective that the HIV epidemic is over.
