Here, the author explains her journey from a classical approach to a systemic approach to students in difficulty. She also explains the interest of this approach in the school context. The author thinks that parents have a certain responsibility in the persistence of their children’s problems at school. She proposes strategies aimed to reach a real collaboration between school and family, based on the respect of parents and their freedom of choice, and to mobilize the parent’s competence in order to allow their children to discover their own competence, and more precisely their competence for learning.
