Invisible young people in rural areas: When specialized prevention programs are still relevant to outreach - 2018.

Today, the specificities, wishes, and needs of young people in rural areas are not often taken into account. No specific policy exists for them. Policies for young people are organized for deprived urban areas in order to respond to young people who are perceived as disturbing and frightening. These policies are then extended to rural areas without being adapted to their territorial specificities or to how young people living in the country function. Feeling that they are not taken into account or have a voice, they are rarely vindictive and are a long way from each other, becoming isolated with their difficulties. Social invisibility generates withdrawal and contributes to the lack of exercise of rights. In the field, specialized prevention is sometimes present in the most distant zones and can have a real capacity to reach out to these invisible young people in rural areas.
