The “Un chez-soi d’abord” experiment made it possible to establish four intensive support teams working on rehabilitation in France (Lille, Marseille, Paris and Toulouse). By examining home visits, this article gives an account of how members of the Marseille team adopted the philosophy of recovery. Professionals took care to sustain dialogue with service users in periods when psychiatric symptoms interfered with the support relationship. The pioneering spirit that infused this team is evidenced here and the need to pursue training for workers to support the life trajectories of recovery and moments of crisis.
