Can experiential knowledge be relevant without being objective? - 2019.

63

This article first looks at experiential knowledge to show how it relates to the experience that everyone has of the world. Then, in a second step, the author explains the reasons for the rarity and specificity of knowledge resulting from the experience of living with a disability or a chronic illness or mental health disorder. Finally, the article explores the ways in which this specific knowledge is produced, going back to the original discussion at the heart of the debate on its legitimacy: Is experiential knowledge objective? Can this clear-cut opposition between objective and subjective be maintained concerning experiential knowledge? Can the latter be relevant without being strictly or exclusively objective?
