L’introduction relativement récente du terme « psychoanalytic formation » dans le vocabulaire psychanalytique anglais fait rupture avec l’usage du terme classique de « training » et a nécessité l’attribution d’un nouveau sens à un mot déjà existant dans la langue anglaise. Ce texte interroge d’éventuels avantages à substituer « formation » à « training » dans la langue anglaise à partir des considérations étymologiques et en vue des enjeux cruciaux relevés par Lacan à l’endroit de ladite formation du psychanalyste. The relatively recent introduction of the term "psychoanalytic formation" into the English psychoanalytic vocabulary breaks with the use of the classic term "training" and required that a new sense be added to a word that already existed in the English language. This text questions the possible advantages of substituting 'formation' for 'training' in the English language in light of etymological considerations and in view of certain crucial issues raised by Lacan regarding this "formation" of the psychoanalyst.
