The author presents two clinical examples in reference to the myth of Narcissus and Echo, and comments on how the myth applies to his therapeutic practice with adult and child patients said to be “narcissistic”. He emphasizes the importance of countertransference and the analyst’s body experience in this type of analytical therapy. He also elaborates upon an original “mother-child” therapy created by the staff of an outpatient clinic for autistic children, “La pataugeoire” (“The Wading Pool”).
