On the Elaboration of a Traumatic Heritage
Altounian, Janine
On the Elaboration of a Traumatic Heritage - 2008.
30
The descendants of genocide survivors can elaborate their heritage at a psychological level, inscribe it and communicate it only through displacements and hybridizations that create Thirdness; in other words, through the existence of democratic Thirds that can absorb the expression of ambivalence and conflict. This is what will be studied in the first part of the presentation. The second part goes on to question the conditions for this kind of anchoring, by putting forward the hypothesis that a globalization process of the excluded makes such conditions highly problematic.
