What we call “professional confidentiality” monolithically refers to a complex reality in which distinctions can be made. The legal and institutional logic, where “confidential knowledge” is considered as information, must be distinguished from the clinical logic, where “absolute discretion” refers to the speech elaborated in the process of its psychological determination. When questioning what we commonly call professional confidentiality, we face the issue of its belonging and its destiny.
