The desired child, having become a whole person, and expected to be able to make the family happy, is an event which causes major anthropological changes that have a direct impact on our representations, our beliefs, our ability to understand vulnerability, pain, and the psychological issues concerning family construction and its generational demands. Among this suffering and its grey areas, the murder of the child at birth—neonaticide—is a major tragedy.
