Based on empirical observations of widows entering the world of desire and guided by the light of psychoanalysis, the author questions the common conception that sexual frustration is a cornerstone of widowhood. He concludes that besides a return to happy sexual activity after mourning, widowhood can, through a regression to a pre-genital stage, often seeking same-sex groups, also lead to the happiness of sexual satisfaction without intercourse.
