During the Second Punic War, the commanders of the Scipio family chose, at least twice, shrines of Aphrodite as places to negotiate with the Hispanic local communities. They were the sanctuaries of Sagunto and Baria. This paper aims to analyze the ideological implications of those sacred areas. They boosted the political interlocution and the consensus between the different actors, as those scenarios were perceived under the patronage of a goddess who was comprehensible and respected by all parties involved.
