The annexation of North Africa to the Arabo-Muslim empire gave to many historians, geographers and other scholars the opportunity to take an interest in this area. They wrote the history of the conquest and gave a general overview including considerations on the area’s society and economy. This paper consists in an enquiry on the toponym Dougga in Arabic written sources, especially in the works of two Shiit authors. The paper gives the translation of them and an analysis of their content.
