The author works as a psychologist in a therapeutic and educational institute as also in a meeting place. He addresses the matter of the place secrecy occupies around the issue of abuse within the family in psychotherapy for the child and distortion of the relation to the symbolic debt the victim feels in light of their experience. The subject is discussed from a theoretical perspective enriched with clinical contributions derived from therapeutic encounters. The objective is to induce the reader to look at situations of revelations by the child of abuse in a more nuanced way, giving greater attention to the loss of the place they occupied within the family system. In parallel to the question of the child’s position, the author also questions the stance of the therapist and recalls the significance of affective investment in the therapeutic relation, which is sometimes about as anxiogenic as it can get for both partners to the arrangement.
