Michel Villey and Spain
Contreras Peláez, Francisco J.
Michel Villey and Spain - 2009.
42
This essay examines three aspects of Michel Villey’s work that had a particular impact on the Spanish natural law doctrine: his criticism of the concept of “subjective right”; his negative view of the Spanish school of natural law’s legacy (which he regards as a sort of pragmatist-subjectivist corruption of Aquinas’ natural law doctrine); and his contributions to the theory of the “nature of things” (focusing particularly on the works of Spanish legal philosophers Legaz Lacambra and Recaséns Siches).
