After an introduction focusing on participatory research involving children, its benefits, and a few examples of similar initiatives, this paper presents the participatory committee of children and young people we set up at our University (its composition, operating procedures, and a summary of the first three meetings). The active participation of the committee’s members—six girls and four boys aged six to seventeen—not only helped to improve the main methodological tool used in a study on the school experiences of intellectually gifted students, but also to define a theme on which researchers should work as a priority, from the children’s point of view, in order to improve the well-being of children and young people. Finally, the scope of this initiative, its limits, and the continuation of the work undertaken are addressed in the discussion.
