Dans un contexte où l’on accorde de plus en plus d’importance à la place du corps, quel est l’impact du corps handicapé sur la construction identitaire ? Le corps handicapé est objet d’une intrication des paramètres psychologiques et socio-culturels. Socialement assigné à un statut ambigu, de liminalité, dans un « entre-deux », le corps handicapé semble exclu du lien social, mais inclus dans la relation parentale sur le mode de l’incorporation, qui constitue une manière de faire l’économie du travail de deuil et de la séparation. Psychiquement, le corps handicapé confronte le sujet à un étranger avec lequel il lui faut bien vivre, au prix parfois d’un douloureux clivage. Malgré ces difficultés, la majorité des enfants parviennent à insérer leur handicap dans leur construction identitaire, grâce au mouvement d’appropriation subjective du corps. In a context in which more and more importance is given to the body, what is the impact of the disabled body on the construction of an identity? The disabled body finds itself in a tangle of psychological and socio-cultural parameters. The disabled body is socially assigned to an ambiguous status, to marginality, an “in between” situation, and seems to be excluded from social ties, but included in a parental relationship of merging, which constitutes a way to avoid the task of mourning and separation. Psychically speaking, the disabled body confronts the subject with an outsider with whom he must live, sometimes at the price of a painful cleavage. Despite these difficulties, most children succeed in integrating their disability into the construction of their identity, thanks to a subjective appropriation of the body.
