David Lichtenstein expose les coordonnées de la demande sociale singulière qui détermine la forme sous laquelle la psychanalyse est conduite à se réinventer à New York, dans une période où le champ sociopolitique américain a été agité par une campagne présidentielle animée et particulièrement clivante. Présentant l’historique des mouvements analytiques et de leurs intersections d’une manière didactique à l’attention du lecteur non familier de leur variété, il souligne en particulier l’importance que prennent, dans la forme actuelle de la psychanalyse new-yorkaise, le courant intersubjectiviste et relationnel, et les études de genre. Il souligne également la prise en compte croissante des apports français, dont témoigne notamment le retour sur la dispute Lacan-Laplanche qui a eu lieu sous forme de débat lors de la conférence new-yorkaise de la Société Internationale de Psychanalyse et Philosophie en novembre dernier. Enfin, il restitue l’actualité des activités du côté des instituts de psychanalyse, et de leur dehors – en mentionnant la formation d’un nouveau groupe, das Unbehagen, qui vise à remettre en question le modèle classique des instituts de formation analytiques. He also underscores the growing appreciation of French contributions, which is demonstrated in particular by the return of the Lacan-Laplanche dispute that took the form of a debate during the New York conference of the International Society for Psychoanalysis and Philosophy last November. Lastly, he presents the current state of activities both within institutes of psychoanalysis, and outside of them – by mentioning, in particular, the formation of a new group, das Unbehagen, which aims to call into question the classical model of institutes of analytical training.
