| Summary, etc. | RésuméY a-t-il une spiritualité néogothique ? Comment associer ces deux mots : « spiritualité » d’une part, « néogothique », d’autre part ? La présente contribution ne cherche pas à construire un système général de relations, mais, avec prudence et circonspection, des passerelles fragiles, des liens plus ou moins ténus, des relations ambiguës, parfois équivoques ou contradictoires, entre l’univers de la spiritualité religieuse et le « Moyen Âge retrouvé » du xixe siècle français. Elle considère tour à tour les « puissances du néo-gothique » dans le champ de la spiritualité catholique en France, d’abord comme une esthétique, ensuite comme un « passage à l’acte », enfin comme une pratique architecturale. |

| Summary, etc. | Is there a neogothic spirituality ? How can one associate these two words : « spirituality » and « neogothic » The present contribution doesn’t aim at building a general system of relations, but, with caution and circumspection, fragile bridges, more or less tenuous links, ambiguous relationships – sometimes equivocal or contradictory – between the religious world of spirituality and the « new found Middle Ages » of the French 19 th century. The article studies in turn the « neogothic potencies » in the field of the Catholic spirituality in France, first as an aesthetic form, then as a « taking action », and finally as an architectural practice. |
