| Summary, etc. | RésuméLa mortalité maternelle constitue un problème majeur de santé publique en Côte d’Ivoire. Une prise en charge des femmes enceintes à travers des consultations prénatales de qualité pourrait contribuer à résoudre ce problème. Mais qu’en est-il de la qualité de ces consultations prénatales dans le district sanitaire de Grand-Bassam ? Pour répondre à cette question, nous avons réalisé une étude transversale à visée descriptive du 26 août au 30 septembre 2002 dans les trois établissements sanitaires en charge des consultations prénatales dans ledit District. Nous avons noté que l’intimité et la confidentialité lors de?l’examen étaient respectées ; par contre, les structures étaient inadaptées et insuffi-samment équipées, la communication interpersonnelle insuffisante et les prestataires peu accueillantes. Des recommandations ont été faites pour remédier à ces insuffisances. |

| Summary, etc. | Maternal mortality constitutes a major public health problem in Côte d’Ivoire. Better management of pregnant patients and improved quality of pre-natal consultations could contribute to solving this problem. But what is the current situation of these a pre-natal consultations in the medical district of Grand-Bassam? To answer to this question, a descriptive cross-sectional study was carried out between August 26th and September 30th 2002 in three medical establishments in charge of pre-natal consultations in that District. It was noted that the privacy and the confidentiality during the examination were respected; yet on the other hand, the structures were sometimes unsuited and were insufficiently equipped. The health care professionals were not very accessible or friendly, and they had poor interpersonal communication skill. Recommendations were made to remedy these insufficiencies. |
