| Summary, etc. | Puisant aux explorations des musiques électroniques et avant-gardistes de son temps (rock psychédélique, jazz-funk, musique concrète et électroacoustique), la bande originale composée par Alain Goraguer pour le long métrage d’animation français La Planète sauvage de René Laloux (1973) contribue, autant que les images surréalistes de Roland Topor, à construire l’étrangeté d’un monde de science-fiction. À l’heure de la popularisation du synthétiseur, la musique du film fusionne avec les « paysages sonores et effets spéciaux » du sound design : en résulte une poétique sonore éclectique et syncrétique où les contaminations réciproques entre ces deux niveaux sonores (musique extradiégétique, bruits intradiégétiques) concrétisent le monde alien en décalant nos anticipations cognitives fondées sur le son et l’image. Cette défamiliarisation généralisée situe le film de Laloux dans une filiation contre-culturelle et expérimentale des sons de la science-fiction, distincte de la familiarisation sonore hyperréaliste vers laquelle se tourne, presque au même moment, un cinéma hollywoodien de science-fiction en plein renouveau. |

| Summary, etc. | The sounds of science fiction in La Planète sauvage by René Laloux (1973)Drawing on the experimentations of contemporary electronic and avant-gardist musics (psychedelic rock, jazz-funk, musique concrète, electroacoustic researchs), Alain Goraguer’s soundtrack for the French animated movie La Planète sauvage directed by René Laloux (1973) contributes, as much as the surrealist images of Roland Topor, to building an estranging science fiction world. In a context of popularisation of synthesizers, the soundtrack merges with the “sound landscapes and special effects” of the “sound design” : they both create an eclectic and syncretic sound poetics, where mutual contaminations between extradiegetic music and intradiegetic noises materialize the alien world by shifting our cognitive anticipations based on sound and image. This global defamiliarization shows how Laloux’s film belongs to an experimental and countercultural filiation in science fiction sound practice, distinct from the hyperrealistic sound familiarization which characterises, almost at the same time, the renewal of science fiction Hollywood cinema. |
