| Summary, etc. | Fondée en 1949, la République démocratique allemande a longtemps fasciné les Français, et probablement plus encore après sa disparition. Malgré les tensions géopolitiques dues à la guerre froide, les échanges cinématographiques entre la RDA et l’Occident existent depuis la fin des années 1940. Après 1989, plusieurs rétrospectives cinématographiques ont été organisées en France autour de la DEFA, la société cinématographique publique de la RDA. Cependant, malgré la réelle diversité des productions de la DEFA, seule une poignée de films sont projetés. Cet article explore l’intérêt français au cours des trois dernières décennies pour les films est-allemands censurés par le régime communiste en 1965-1966, et leur « redécouverte » dans les festivals français depuis les années 1990. Il vise à comprendre si cette « redécouverte » se fait ou non au détriment de la découverte d’autres films produits dans, ou à propos de l’ex-RDA. |

| Summary, etc. | Founded in 1949, the German Democratic Republic fascinated the French for a long time, and probably even more after its disappearance. Despite the geopolitical tensions due to the Cold War, film exchanges between the GDR and the West did exist from the late 1940s. After 1989, several film retrospectives have been organized in France around the DEFA, the GDR’s state-run cinematographic company. However, despite the real diversity of the DEFA cinematography, only a handful of films are screened. This article explores the French interest within the three last decades for East German films censored by the communist regime in 1965-1966, and their “rediscovery” in French festivals since the 1990s. It aims to understand whether or not this “rediscovery” occurs at the detriment of the discovery of other films produced in, or about the former GDR. |
