| Summary, etc. | Depuis l’Antiquité, l’idée que les sons et la musique reflètent l’organisation du cosmos est permanente. Au xxe siècle, cette connexion entre le son et l’espace s’affirme au travers de l’univers sonore des films de science-fiction dès les années 1930. La mise au point de nouveaux instruments de musique électriques et électroniques ouvre un champ de possibles inédit et contribue à façonner un imaginaire de l’espace particulier. Notre étude s’intéresse plus particulièrement au son des ondes Martenot, un instrument de musique électronique apparu en 1928. Construit sur les possibilités sonores des lampes triodes utilisées en télégraphie sans fil, cet instrument nous permet de questionner les liens entre la TSF, la musique, le cinéma de science-fiction, l’espace et l’éther, ce milieu insaisissable et mystérieux, censé transporter les ondes électromagnétiques et les messages terrestres vers d’autres mondes. |

| Summary, etc. | Since Antiquity, the idea that sounds and music reflect the organization of the cosmos has been constant. In the 20th century, this connection between sound and space was affirmed through the sounds used in science fiction films from the 1930s. The development of new electric and electronic musical instruments opened up a field of possibilities and participates in shaping a particular imaginary of space. This study looks thorough the sound of the Ondes Martenot, an electronic musical instrument that appeared in 1928. Built on the sonic possibilities of triode lamps used in wireless telegraphy, this instrument allows us to question the links between TSF, music, science fiction cinema, Space and the ether, this elusive and mysterious medium, supposed to transport electromagnetic waves and terrestrial messages to other worlds. |
