| Summary, etc. | La Charte d’Ottawa pour la promotion de la santé fait l’objet d’un certain nombre de critiques. Ainsi, peut-on entendre ou lire – 30 ans après sa promulgation – qu’elle ne répond plus aux problématiques actuelles de santé, que ses modalités d’actions sont obsolètes, qu’elle n’est pas efficace, encore moins efficiente voire utopique et, par conséquent, non opérationnelle.Nous pensons au contraire que la Charte représente une réponse pertinente aux enjeux majeurs d’aujourd’hui. Ses leviers sont prouvés efficaces et efficients, ils peuvent constituer un cadre intégrateur à même d’accueillir les évolutions contextuelles et scientifiques en santé publique. Il n’est ainsi pas temps de l’abandonner, mais au contraire d’intensifier son déploiement. |

| Summary, etc. | Should the Ottawa Charter still be the reference 30 years later?The Ottawa Charter for health promotion is the subject of a number of criticisms. For example, less than 30 years after signature of this agreement, some authors claim that it no longer corresponds to current health problems, that its modalities of action are obsolete, that it is not effective, and even less efficient or even utopian and, consequently, not operational.On the contrary, we believe that the Ottawa Charter represents a relevant response to today’s major challenges. The levers of this Charter have been shown to be effective and efficient and can constitute an integrating framework that can be adapted to contextual and scientific changes in public health. It is therefore not time to abandon this Charter, but, on the contrary, to intensify its deployment. |
