| Summary, etc. | L’objectivation statistique montre que les clivages de la profession de mathématicien selon la filière de formation et le sexe sont très marqués en France et qu’ils sont relatifs à la carrière comme aux positions occupées. Mais elle montre aussi que ces clivages ne sont pas indépendants. Ainsi, les décalages, quant à l’occupation de positions de pouvoir, à la participation à l’animation de la profession, etc., entre normaliens et autres mathématiciens sont-ils plus forts parmi les femmes qu’ils ne le sont parmi les hommes et l’investissement professionnel indiqué par le temps de travail hebdomadaire, qui pour les seules femmes dépend de leur situation familiale, est-il très sensiblement inférieur à la moyenne générale pour les femmes qui ne sont pas normaliennes uniquement. |

| Summary, etc. | Mathematician : an elitist and male-dominated profession. A statistical analysis shows that in France, as far as mathematicians are concerned, there is a double split in the profession, between genders and between former École Normale Supérieure (ENS) students and other mathematicians, regarding careers and professional positions. But gender and higher education trajectories are in fact interrelated. Differences between former ENS students and others, in access to powerful positions or in collective responsibilities of the profession, are stronger between women; and the degree of professional involvement, as measured by weekly working hours, which only for women varies according to the family situation, is clearly below the average for those women who are not former students of ENS. |
