| Summary, etc. | Drawing on the experience of a sociological intervention on suffering at work solicited by the works council of an industrial research centre, this text retraces almost a decade of trade union struggles to have recognised the deleterious effects of work organisation on employees’ health. It explores the journey of an inter-union team to bring the phenomenon to light, place work organisation at the centre of the debate and counter the employer’s hygienist and individualist conceptions. In so doing, it sheds light on the difficulties, the deadlocks and also the progress achieved, gauged against the position of the management team and the way in which the latter systematically attempts to discredit the arguments put forward by activists on the subject. |

| Summary, etc. | S’appuyant sur l’expérience d’une intervention sociologique sur la souffrance au travail conduite dans le cadre du comité d’établissement (CE) d’un centre de recherche industriel, ce texte retrace près d’une décennie de luttes syndicales pour faire reconnaître les effets délétères d’une organisation du travail sur la santé des salariés. Il explore le cheminement d’une équipe intersyndicale pour mettre en visibilité le phénomène, placer l’organisation du travail au centre des débats et contrer les conceptions hygiénistes et individualisantes de l’employeur. Il met ce faisant en lumière les difficultés, les impasses mais aussi les avancées obtenues, à l’aune du positionnement de l’équipe de direction et de la façon dont cette dernière tente systématiquement de discréditer les arguments avancés par les militants sur le sujet. |
