| Summary, etc. | L’article examine les conditions sociales de l’adhésion d’agriculteurs au mode de production biologique. À partir d’une enquête ethnographique menée auprès de maraîchers, il interroge les contextes dans lesquels se forgent et s’expriment les dispositions à rompre avec les pratiques professionnelles dites conventionnelles. L’enquête montre le caractère déterminant que joue un niveau élevé de formation, ainsi que l’importance de la distance sociale (originelle ou acquise) aux instances traditionnelles de socialisation en agriculture, à savoir la famille et les organisations professionnelles agricoles. |

| Summary, etc. | The article examines social conditions for farmers to embrace and implement organic agricultural methods. Based on an ethnographic inquiring of market gardeners, it examines the contexts in which the wilingness to break with “conventional” practices are developed and expressed. The study shows the importance of a high level of training, as well as (original or acquired) social distance from the traditional bodies of socialisation in agriculture, namely the family and professional agricultural organizations. |
