| Summary, etc. | Le confinement du printemps 2020 a eu pour effet de renforcer la domination subie par les étudiant·es peu doté·es économiquement et scolairement en les dépossédant, plus encore qu’à l’ordinaire, de leurs capacités d’agir, de la maîtrise de leur temps et de leur espace, et de leurs moyens de se projeter dans l’avenir. On analyse d’abord les contraintes pesant sur le « choix » du lieu de confinement, afin de voir comment les inégalités de ressources économiques et résidentielles se traduisent pour les étudiant·es précaires par une réduction extrême de l’espace à leur disposition. L’intensification des contraintes temporelles et spatiales s’exerce en outre à travers les emplois salariés dont continuent à dépendre certain·es étudiant·es isolé·es et précaires, soumis durant le confinement à des horaires augmentés et des conditions de travail dégradées. Le délitement des calendriers universitaires et la fermeture des lieux d’études imposent également aux étudiant·es dominé·es socialement et scolairement une attente sans cesse prolongée qui déjoue leurs anticipations, perturbe leur préparation aux examens et accroît leurs incertitudes à l’égard de l’avenir. L’inégale répartition du pouvoir de maîtriser et de rentabiliser son temps durant cette période de crise tient enfin aux dispositions temporelles liées à l’origine sociale, ainsi qu’aux conditions de vie en confinement où elles s’actualisent. |

| Summary, etc. | This article shows how the spring 2020 lockdown reinforced the domination suffered by economically and academically disadvantaged students, who were deprived of their control over time and space, as well as their means to project themselves into the future. We first analyse the constraints on the “choice” of place of confinement, in order to see how the lack of economic and residential resources condemn precarious students to live into very small dwellings. Intensification of temporal and spatial constraints can also be seen through increased hours and degraded working conditions of student employees. The degradation of university calendars and closure of study sites also imposes an unceasingly prolonged wait that undermines students’ expectations, disrupting their preparation for exams and increasing their uncertainties about the future. The unequal distribution of the power to control time during this period of crisis is due, finally, to the temporal dispositions linked to social origin, as well as to the conditions of confined life in which they are actualized. |
