Le fait qu’ils « choisissent » d’appartenir au mouvement gothique, techno ou rap n’est pas déconnecté de leur origine sociale. Unifier une subculture juvénile, l’hypostasier est une pratique du regard exotique, assez proche de ce que l’on a pu faire avec la mythification d’un Orient dont on ne connaissait que peu de chose mais que l’on trouvait romantique. Essentialiser la jeunesse revient à nier les évolutions de sa place dans la société. |

Young peoples’ “choice” to be a Goth, to be a member of a techno Sound System or to be a Rap Artist is not deconnected from their social origins. Considering youth subculture as one unified structure is similar to the mystification of the East when little was known about the region thus leading to a romanticised vision. The social origins of the young must be taken into account in order to recognize the development of youth in society. |
