Summary, etc. RésuméLe but de cette étude était de mettre en évidence l’influence d’un entraînement visant à apprendre à tirer sur la pédale lors de la phase de retour sur la technique de pédalage et la performance en cyclisme. Après un entraînement de quatre semaines, les cyclistes exerçaient une force efficace significativement supérieure lors de la phase retour et inférieure lors de la phase descendante (à 300 watts). Cependant ce changement de technique de pédalage n’était pas associé à une amélioration de la performance mesurée lors d’un test d’effort maximal.Ainsi, même si une action de traction sur la pédale semblerait présenter un avantage mécanique, l’intérêt d’un point de vue de la performance reste à être démontré.

Summary, etc. Modification of the pedaling technique after a training based on the pedal forces feedbackThe aim of the study was to investigate the influence of a training form leading to an active pull-up action on the pedal during the upstroke on both the pedaling technique and the cycling performance. After a four weeks training, cyclists applied a significant higher effective force during upstroke while generating a lower effective force during downstroke (at a 300 watts level). However, such changes in the pedaling technique did not influence the performance measured during a maximal incremental cycling test.Therefore, even if an active pull-up action on the pedal during upstroke seems to present a mechanical advantage, the benefit in terms of cycling performance remains to be demonstrated.
