Summary, etc. Les β2 agonistes constituent une classe de molécules pharmacologiques utilisées classiquement dans le traitement de l’asthme et d’autres maladies respiratoires. Depuis 1991, l’AMA (agence mondiale anti-dopage) oriente notamment sa lutte vis à vis de l’usage illicite des β2 agonistes. En effet, il semblerait que ces molécules soient couramment utilisées par les sportifs en raison de leur pouvoir ergogénique et de leurs fonctions anabolisantes et lipolitiques. Cet article a pour objectif de regrouper les différentes données expérimentales relevant les effets de ces molécules sur les performances aérobie et anaérobie ainsi que de disséquer les mécanismes de signalisation cellulaires induits par ces substances.Reçu le 23 Novembre 2011 – Accepté le 23 Janvier 2012

Summary, etc. Ergogenic effects of β2 agonistsβ2 adrenergic agonists are a class of drugs usually used in the treatment of asthma and other pulmonary diseases. Since 1991, increasing concern has been expressed over the widespread use of β2 agonists among elite athletes. Indeed, it would seem that these molecules are usually used in elite competitive athletes fearing potential ergogenic doping effects and their improvement of ventilatory and muscular functions. The aim of this article is to gather the experimental data raising the effects of these molecules on aerobic and anaerobic performances, and also detail the physiological mechanisms borrowed by these substances.
