L’éclatement terminologique, des ambiguïtés sémantiques et sa faible connotation distinctive conduisent à relativiser l’apport heuristique de cette appellation. Son origine médiatique nécessite des précautions conceptuelles qui sont rarement prises, et la séduction opérée par cette notion en vogue pousse à y avoir recours malgré son caractère flou. |

| Summary, etc. | This analysis aims to consider the relevance of “extreme sports” as a concept. The meanings’ dispersal of this notion, its semantic ambiguities and lack of distinctive connotation lead to question its self-sufficiency as a concept. “Extreme sports” essentially have commercial origins, consequently the use of such an expression implies conceptual caution, which is sometimes neglected. Some researchers seem to be appealed to such a notion and use it despite its vagueness. |
