Summary, etc. Le premier objectif de cette étude était de déterminer si les propriétés amortissantes de chaussures pouvaient influencer l’économie de course. Le second objectif était de déterminer si la cinématique, la cinétique et les paramètres d’EMG étaient en relation avec l’économie de course. Douze sujets masculins ont réalisé deux exercices de course à pied de 6-min à une vitesse égale à 4,0 m.s?1 avec des chaussures ayant des propriétés amortissantes différentes. Les résultats montrent que les propriétés amortissantes n’affectent pas l’économie de course. L’angle maximum de flexion de hanche, l’activation de muscle vastus medialis, la vitesse maximale de flexion plantaire et l’excursion de genou dans le plan sagittal étaient des paramètres prédictifs de l’économie de course. Des travaux futurs devront se concentrer sur les moyens pour améliorer l’économie de course.

Summary, etc. The first aim of this study was to determine whether footwear with different shock attenuating properties can influence running economy. The second was to determine whether kinetic, 3-D kinematic and EMG parameters could be related to running economy. Twelve male participants completed 6-min of steady state treadmill running at 4.0 m.s?1 in two different footwear conditions with different mechanical shock attenuating properties. Kinetic, 3-D kinematic and EMG measures were synchronously obtained. The results show that whilst footwear with different shock attenuating properties do not affect running economy, key parameters of peak hip flexion, vastus medialis activation, peak plantar flexion velocity and sagittal plane knee excursion were found to be significant predictors of running economy. Future work should focus on implementing interventions to improve running economy.
