| Summary, etc. | Cet essai tente de réfléchir sur les difficultés de méthode imposées au chercheur qui souhaite entreprendre une recherche sur l’imaginaire. On part du postulat que, dans le sillage de Gilbert Durand, les études qui supposent la préséance de l’imaginaire sur d’autres productions humaines, par rapport à la cohérence heuristique, embrassent aussi la définition d’un symbole comme sens vécu, c’est-à-dire le résultat d’une condition d’événement accomplie. Ne constituant pas une propriété empirique stable, le symbolique ne se laisse pas appréhender par les méthodologies centrées sur le travail rationnel sur les données. Il est conclu par la nécessaire soumission initiatique du chercheur au symbolisme comme exigence d’entreprendre des recherches sur l’imaginaire, partant d’une conception de la science qui rompt avec la pensée disjonctive cartésienne et propose un regard plus complexe sur les phénomènes de l’imaginaire. |

| Summary, etc. | This essay aims to consider the methodological difficulties for the researcher seeking to study the imaginary. It is postulated that, in the tradition of Gilbert Durand, studies that assume the precedence of the imaginary over other human productions, in relation to heuristic coherence, also embrace the definition of a symbol as a lived sense, that is to say, the result of a condition of an accomplished event. By not constituting a stable empirical property, symbolism cannot be grasped by methodologies centered on rational work on the data. It concludes with the necessary initiatory submission of the researcher to symbolism as a requirement to undertake research on the imaginary, departing from a conception of science that breaks with disjunctive Cartesian thought and proposes a more complex view of phenomena of the imaginary. |
