Summary, etc. | Dans le Passagen-Werk, Walter Benjamin révèle qu’au-delà des styles et des époques les passages couverts peuvent devenir l’objet d’une interprétation, en tant qu’espaces « baroques » d’un monde spéculaire, car ils offrent une dilatation des espaces créés par le reflet à demi voilé des miroirs salis. Ces jeux de glaces plongent le passant dans la multiplication troublante des perspectives, lui faisant vivre l’expérience perturbante d’un labyrinthe. À cela s’ajoutent les affiches, les enseignes, les panneaux publicitaires, les annonces, etc. L’ensemble de ces inscriptions confère un aspect allégorique, car les images accompagnent les textes comme des écritures que l’on doit déchiffrer. La polyvocité des images est excentrique ; elle conduit à une sorte d’entre-pli ou de pliure entre différentes conditions : intérieur/extérieur, éclairé/sombre, privé/public, celé/révélé. |
