| Summary, etc. | Erving Goffman’s sociology of face-to-face behavior provides conceptual tools to establish the foundations of a pragmatic sociology of conflict interactions. By its mere potentiality, conflict is a structuring element of the social order, the order of interactions, and the modes of existence of social actors. Goffman’s dramaturgical analysis of interaction frameworks and rituals revolves around the reciprocal risk of aggression. However, it does exclude physical attacks. Using his theories, we develop an “analysis grid” around the struggle for face, commitment to action, and the territorial dimension, by differentiating the concepts of fight, brawl, and total acting out. |

| Summary, etc. | La sociologie du face-à-face d’Erving Goffman offre des outils conceptuels pour poser les bases d’une sociologie pragmatique des interactions conflictuelles. Par sa seule potentialité, le conflit est un élément structurant de l’ordre social, de l’ordre de l’interaction et des ordres d’existence des acteurs sociaux. L’analyse dramaturgique des cadres et rites d’interaction déployée par Goffman gravite autour du risque réciproque d’agression. Elle évacue néanmoins la part concrète, in situ in vivo, des attaques physiques. Articulant ses éléments théoriques, nous développons une « grille » d’analyse mobilisable autour du combat pour la face, de l’engagement physique dans l’action et de la dimension territoriale tout en distinguant les concepts de bagarre, rixe et passage à l’acte total. |
