| Summary, etc. | L’histoire du design est une discipline partagée entre les histoires des arts, de l’architecture, de la culture technique et enfin, plus récemment, des cultures matérielles et immatérielles, aux confins de l’histoire et des sciences humaines et sociales. Cet article, en forme d’enquête historiographique, fait émerger et interroge un certain nombre de modèles qui se sont développés depuis la naissance du design industriel au XIXe siècle. L’époque contemporaine voit de nouveaux métiers émerger avec le développement des technologies de l’information et de la communication et la mise en œuvre d’approches transversales instaurées par le design thinking. De nouveaux champs d’investigation apparaissent, qui sans doute bousculent le cadre épistémologique des recherches historiennes. C’est aussi ce cadre épistémologique à repenser qui est interrogé. |

| Summary, etc. | Design history is a discipline that combines the history of art, architecture, technical culture and, more recently, tangible and intangible forms of culture, in the context of history, humanities and social sciences. This article, in the form of a historiographical survey, brings to light and considers a number of models which have developed since the birth of industrial design in the 19th century. The modern era has seen the emergence of new professions with the development of information and communication technologies and the implementation of cross-disciplinary approaches introduced by design thinking. New fields of investigation are appearing, which undoubtedly challenge the epistemological framework of historical research. The article also considers the need to rethink this epistemological framework. |
