| Summary, etc. | Les films de Lucrecia Martel commencent par un incident : une mère de famille se coupe, une adolescente subit un attouchement furtif dans la foule, une femme heurte quelque chose en voiture. Cet événement est ensuite diffracté, au sein d’un milieu social étroit, en fragments de discours dispersés, en un kaléidoscope d’images chaotiques, de bruits et de sons erratiques. Et le trauma initial tourne à la tragédie, conséquence, à la fois, de la transmission de choses dites qui s’incarnent et se répètent et de la décision catastrophique de surtout ne rien dire. Ainsi, Lucrecia Martel filme au plus près ce que Lacan appelait « le sujet comme réponse du réel ». Cela s’avère terriblement efficace pour montrer, de façon allusive, les ressorts d’une société hantée par l’amnésie, le déni et bien des fantômes... |

| Summary, etc. | From trauma to catastrophe in Lucrecia Martel’s filmsLucrecia Martel’s films initiate in a rather trivial incident: a mother wounds herself; a teenager is subject to stealthy strokes in a crowd; a woman bumps into something with her car. Then this event is diffracted within a narrow social circle into fragments of scattered discourses, through a kaleidoscope of chaotic images and erratic sounds and noises. And the initial trauma turns into tragedy as a consequence of both the transmission of what is said which becomes incarnate and tends to repeat itself and of the dramatic choice never to say a word about it. Thus Lucrecia Martel can dramatize in his films what Lacan qualified as the subject as response to the real. It proves most efficient to show allusively the workings of a society haunted by amnesia, denial and many other ghosts. |
