Summary, etc. | L’évolution contemporaine des services publics s’est accompagnée d’une réflexion sur le rôle et la place des usagers. Tout en prolongeant ce questionnement vers le travail social à partir d’une étude menée sur les usagers avec un public d’étudiants-intervenants en formation, les auteurs proposent d’examiner la relation de travail avec l’usager à partir d’un dispositif d’enquête. Cette relation ne se réduit pas au seul registre du service ou de l’action. Elle produit des connaissances pleinement ancrées dans l’expérience. Ces connaissances sont expérimentées tant par le chercheur que par toute personne évoluant dans le monde environnant. Ainsi, l’usager peut-il être approché non comme une catégorie ou comme un contenu bien circonscrit mais, à la suite des travaux de John Dewey, en tant qu’expérience menée à partir de tout un travail d’enquête. En cherchant à saisir non pas l’usager en tant que tel mais le travail avec l’usager, l’analyse proposée montre combien le travail accompli oriente, construit et définit une politique publique qui se met en action avec l’usager à partir d’interactions et de situations concrètes de travail. |

Summary, etc. | The contemporary evolution of public services has been accompanied by reflection on the role and place of users. While extending this discussion to social work from a study concerning users and conducted with an audience of student workers in training, the authors propose to examine the work relationship with the user based on an inquiry device. This relationship is not reduced to the register of services or actions. It produces knowledge that is fully grounded in experience. This knowledge is experimented both by the researcher and by anyone working in the area concerned. Thus, the user can be approached not as a category or as a well-defined content but, following John Dewey’s work, as an experiment conducted on the basis of a whole inquiry work. By seeking to understand not the user as such but the work with the user, the suggested analysis shows that the work accomplished guides, constructs and defines a public policy that is implemented through interactions and concrete work situations. |
