| Summary, etc. | Depuis la fin des années 1970, un grand nombre d’infirmières indiennes travaillent dans les pays du Golfe. La plupart d’entre elles viennent du Kérala, un petit État du Sud. Après avoir explicité les stratégies élaborées peu à peu par ces migrantes et leurs familles, cet article s’attache à analyser les particularités d’une migration dans le Golfe, par rapport une migration dans les pays occidentaux, autre opportunité migratoire pour les infirmières indiennes. Il aborde enfin la question de l’évolution du statut de ces migrantes dans leur pays, en tant que professionnelles et en tant que femmes. |

| Summary, etc. | A Profession in Order to Leave : Migration of Keralese Nurses (South India) Since the end of the 70s, a large number of Indian nurses have worked in the Gulf countries. Most of them come from Kerala, a small Southern state. After describing the strategies that these migrants and their family have developed over the course of time, this paper analyzes the particularities of migration to the Gulf, compared to migration to Western countries (also recruiters of Indian nurses). Lastly, it examines the evolution of these migrants’ status – as professionals and as women – in their own country. |

| Summary, etc. | Desde finales de los años 1970, una importante cantidad de enfermeras indias trabaja en los países del Golfo. La mayoría de ellas proviene del Kerala un pequeño Estado del Sur. Luego de haber explicitado las estrategias elaboradas de a poco por esas migrantes y sus familias este artículo busca analizar las particularidades de una migración hacia el Golfo en relación a una migración hacia países occidentales que representa otra oportunidad migratoria para las enfermeras indias. El texto enfoca finalmente la evolución del estatus de estas migrantes en su propio país como profesionales y como mujeres. |
