| Summary, etc. | Depuis les années 2000, le « retour » d’ itorero au Rwanda marque la rénovation d’un dispositif éducatif et guerrier dont les racines remontent aux royaumes des temps (pré) coloniaux. Habilement triés et réinventés par le gouvernement, ces éléments s’ajustent à la (re)construction du citoyen gagné aux idéaux du Front patriotique rwandais. Cette dynamique s’est articulée suivant deux lignes d’action. À l’aide de l’impact médiatique de la Coupe d’Afrique des nations de 2004, la première ligne a consisté à diffuser l’image d’une nation réconciliée et capable d’exercer son influence sur la scène internationale. Mutatis mutandis la deuxième ligne a marqué la constitution d’une organisation monolithique et pyramidale, agencée comme un élément majeur des politiques de reconstruction du Rwanda post-génocide. |

| Summary, etc. | Since the 2000s, the “return” of itorero in Rwanda has marked the renovation of an education program inspired by a warrior tradition which dates back to (pre) colonial kingdoms. The government has deftly selected and reinvented the elements used in the (re) construction of citizens won over to the ideals of the Rwandan Patriotic Front. This dynamic was launched through two courses of action. Thanks to the media coverage of the 2004 African Cup of Nations, the first one consisted in showing the image of a reconciled nation which was able to exert its influence on the world stage. Mutatis mutandis, the second one corresponded to the creation of a monolithic organization with a pyramidal structure which was meant to play a major role in Rwanda’s reconstruction policies. |

| Summary, etc. | Desde los años 2000, el « retorno » del Itorero en Ruanda marca la renovación de un dispositivo educativo y guerrero cuyas raíces remontan a los tiempos (pre) coloniales. Hábilmente seleccionados y reinventados por el gobierno, estos elementos se ajustan con la (re) construcción del ciudadano conquistado por los ideales del Frente Patriótico Ruandés. Esta dinámica se apoyó en dos líneas de acción. Gracias al impacto mediático de la Copa Africana de las Naciones de 2004, la primera línea consistió en difundir la imagen de una nación reconciliada y capaz de ejercer influencia en la escena internacional. Mutatis mutandis, la segunda línea marcó la constitución de una organización monolítica y piramidal, que se constituye como un elemento mayor de las políticas de reconstrucción del Ruanda post-genocidio. |
