| Summary, etc. | RésuméLongtemps objet de consensus politique, la construction ou la rénovation des stades de football fait désormais débat et suscitent de nombreuses mobilisations locales. Ces mobilisations ont des motivations multiformes et sont portées par des acteurs divers. En retour, les groupes de supporteurs, souvent encouragés par les dirigeants des clubs, n’hésitent plus à organiser des manifestations dans et hors les stades pour interpeller les pouvoirs publics afin d’accélérer la mise aux normes des stades ou de faire respecter les engagements pris. Cet article présente un cas particulièrement spectaculaire de politisation, qui aboutit à un résultat paradoxal : d’une part, l’abandon du projet initial d’agrandissement de l’ancien stade Grimonprez-Jooris, d’autre part, la construction d’un stade beaucoup plus grand et coûteux que celui initialement voulu par les élus. Le résultat de la politisation ne conduit donc pas à un désengagement des acteurs publics, mais au contraire un engagement sans précédent qui montre à quel point les élus ne sont pas prêts à laisser les intérêts privés prendre en charge la construction des stades. Le transfert de la gestion et du financement de ce type d’équipement au niveau intercommunal et le recours à un partenariat public-privé permet cependant de masquer celui-ci. L’article entend rendre compte de la dynamique de la mobilisation et du jeu des acteurs ayant produit ce résultat inattendu dont tout laisse à penser qu’il n’est pas un cas singulier. |

| Summary, etc. | The limits of the politicization of footballFor a long time matter of political consensus, the construction or the renovation of the football stadiums arouse recently numerous local mobilizations in France. These mobilizations are based on different kinds of motivations and are led by diverse kinds of actors. They often yield counter-mobilizations led by football supporters and sustained by clubs¹ managers. This paper presents a case of such mobilisation and politicization in the city of Lille (North of France), which ends in a paradoxical result : on one hand the relinquishment of the initial project of enlargement of the former stadium (Grimonprez-Jooris), on the other hand, the construction of a stadium much bigger and more expensive than that initially wanted by the elected representatives. So the result of the politicization does not cause a disengagement of the public actors, but on the contrary an unprecedented commitment in professional football. The paper aims to explain this paradox. |
