| Summary, etc. | En France, l’historiographie de la natation scolaire montre que divers espaces ont été utilisés depuis la fin du xixe siècle. Comment, au fil du temps, la prise en compte de la sécurité, de l’hygiène, du confort de travail, du rationalisme pédagogique, etc. a-t-elle pu infléchir les caractéristiques spatiales de ces espaces ? À partir d’un ensemble de sources imprimées et iconographiques, de témoignages d’enseignants d’EPS et leurs archives professionnelles, cette étude historique (1880-2006) vise à formaliser, à l’échelle de la ville de Caen et ses environs, les facteurs qui ont influencé l’évolution des caractéristiques des espaces dévolus à la natation scolaire afin de continuellement disciplinariser les corps et obtenir l’ordre social. |

| Summary, etc. | In France, the historiography of school swimming shows that various spaces and places have been used since the end of the 19th century. How, over time, the taking into account of safety, hygiene, working comfort, educational rationalism, etc. could influence the spatial characteristics of these spaces and places? Based on a set of printed and iconographic sources, testimonies from physical education teachers and their professional archives, this historical study (1880-2019) aims to formalize, on the scale of the city of Caen and its surroundings, the factors that have influenced the evolution of the characteristics of the spaces devoted to school swimming, in order to continually discipline the bodies and obtain social order. |
