| Summary, etc. | Lorsqu’ils sont en stage dans les établissements de santé, les étudiants-infirmiers sont confiés à des personnels soignants qui, en tant que tuteurs, ont pour attribution de les accompagner et de les évaluer dans le cadre de leur formation professionnelle. A-t-on affaire à deux missions bien compatibles ? Telle est la première question posée dans cet article où le rôle de tuteur est précisé notamment au regard de ses origines. Depuis, la notion d’« empathie » s’est progressivement imposée en tant que qualité nécessaire à l’exercice de ce même rôle. Qualité qui peut être mise en lien avec la culture humaniste, que l’on trouve au fondement de l’hôpital, mais qui est actuellement menacée par l’émergence d’une logique économique. Deux cultures opposées de nature à déstabiliser les professionnels de santé ? À les faire renoncer à toute mission tutorale ? Il y a là d’autres questions qui amènent à s’intéresser à la piste éducative pour faire en sorte que le sens des autres reste bien présent au sein de nos sociétés en général, et du milieu hospitalier en particulier. Il y va de la pérennité de l’accompagnement des étudiants en soins infirmiers dans leur cursus de formation. |

| Summary, etc. | Today, be tutor of nursing students : sustainable and complex mission ?When doing an internship in health facilities, student nurses find themselves in the hands of caregivers who, as tutors, whose role is to accompany them and evaluate them as part of their professional training. Are these two missions compatible ? This is the first question asked in this paper where the role of the tutor is made clear in terms of its origins. Since then, the notion of empathy has gradually emerged as the quality necessary for exercising that role. Quality that can be linked to the culture of humanism that underpins the very notion of what a hospital is, but is currently threatened by the emergence of the economic logic. Will two opposing cultures destabilize health professionals to the point where they decide to give up all tutoring activities ? The issues involved here concern the educational aspect of ensuring that awareness of others’ needs remains present in our societies in general, and especially in hospitals. At stake, it is the sustainability of the way in which nursing students are accompanied throughout their curriculum. |
