| Summary, etc. | L’expérience de la maladie entraîne une désorientation, une perte de sens et de liberté d’agir. C’est tout le champ des possibilités pratiques qui diminue avec comme résultat une expérience de l’action comme quelque chose d’impossible. Dans ce cas, la question est la suivante : l’infirmière peut-elle contribuer à maintenir un espoir d’une vie riche de sens, ajusté aux limites imposées par la maladie ? Nous proposons, dans ce contexte, un modèle humaniste d’accompagnement qui permet aux infirmières de redonner de l’espoir et du pouvoir aux personnes en situation de vulnérabilité. En examinant le meilleur et le pire scénario qui pourrait survenir chez la personne vulnérable, la méthode d’accompagnement proposée met l’accent sur l’exploration d’interventions pratiques qui pourraient favoriser le meilleur scénario et réduire le risque et les conséquences du pire scénario. En travaillant sur certains aspects pragmatiques, nous constatons que la vie prend sens selon l’usage qu’on peut en faire, eu égard aux possibilités d’action. |

| Summary, etc. | The experience of illness entails a disorientation, a loss of meaning, and a loss of freedom to act. In other words, the entire field of practical possibilities diminishes, resulting in action being viewed as something impossible. In this case, the question is the following: can the nurse contribute to maintaining hope for a life that is rich in meaning, adjusted to the limits imposed by the illness? We propose, in this context, a humanist model of accompanying that allows nurses to restore hope and power to persons in vulnerable situations. In examining the best and the worst scenario that a vulnerable person could be faced with, the method of accompanying proposed places emphasis on the exploration of practical interventions that could foster the best scenario and reduce the risk and the consequences of the worst scenario. In working on certain pragmatic dimensions, we ascertain that life becomes meaningful according to the use we can make of it regarding the possibility of actions. |
