| Summary, etc. | Le management contemporain, soucieux de confort au travail et d’adhésion des personnes aux directives hiérarchiques, se pense comme un progrès par rapport à sa version sauvage, de command and control, issue du taylorisme. Déjà, l’émergence du management traduisait le projet moderne d’une rationalisation de la vie et, partant, d’une sortie de l’obscurantisme. Mais les excès même de la rationalisation ont conduit à voir, dans la logique de pure efficacité appliquée aux travailleurs, une figure typiquement moderne de la barbarie. Aussi le manager le plus moderne prétend-il intégrer et dépasser cette limite en se révélant capable de produire un sentiment de bien-être et de liberté chez ceux qui lui sont confiés, par où son travail se rapproche de celui du sophiste. Le management concertatif notamment, avant-garde éclairée du management participatif, présente ainsi des risques de manipulation sophistique, au profit de n’importe quelles fins fixées par la Direction, y compris donc, potentiellement, les plus barbares. |

| Summary, etc. | The modern manager, between sophist and barbarian The contemporary management, concerned with providing comfort at work and adherence to hierarchic directives, claims to be a progress in comparison to its primitive version, the “command and control” that stemmed from Taylorism. The emergence of management had already denoted the modern project of life rationalizing, and hence, an arising out of obscurantism. However, it was the excesses of rationalizing that lead to see in the logic of sheer efficiency applied to employees, a typically modern model of barbarism. Moreover, the most modern manager asserts embracing and exceeding the limit by proving he can generate a feeling of well-being and freedom in those who are entrusted to his care. As a result, his work borders closely that of a sophist. The consultative management in particular, that is in fact the progressive forefront of the participative management, exposes the risks of a sophistic handling for the benefit of any set purposes of the Management, thus potentially including those most barbaric. |

| Summary, etc. | La gestión contemporánea, atenta al bienestar en el trabajo y la afiliación de las personas a las directrices jerárquicas, se considera como un progreso en comparación con su versión ruda, conocida por su sistema de mando y control o “command and control”, que tiene su origen en el taylorismo. La emergencia de la gestión traducía ya el proyecto moderno de una racionalización de la vida y por lo tanto de una salida del oscurantismo. Pero los excesos de esa misma racionalización condujeron a darse cuenta, en la lógica de la eficacia pura aplicada a los trabajadores, de una imagen típicamente moderna de la barbarie. Además, el gerente más moderno pretende integrar y superar este límite, revelándose capaz de crear un sentimiento de bienestar y de libertad en las personas bajo su responsabilidad, lo que confiere a su trabajo unas características que se parecen a las del sofista. La gestión basada en la concertación particularmente, vanguardia fundamentada de la gestión participativa, presenta los riesgos de la manipulación sofista, a favor de todos los fines establecidos por la dirección, hasta, potencialmente, los más bárbaros. |
