| Summary, etc. | Cet article aborde la question de l’adaptation du logement au vieillissement mais en élargissant la focale généralement utilisée : d’une part, il s’intéresse aux jeunes retraités de la génération du début du baby-boom et non aux personnes très âgées, confrontées à des limitations fonctionnelles ; d’autre part, plutôt que de partir d’une liste limitative d’adaptations, il considère l’ensemble des aménagements que les retraités mettent en œuvre ou envisagent d’entreprendre dans leur logement. L’objectif est de savoir dans quelle mesure ces jeunes retraités anticipent le grand âge et adaptent leur logement à leur (futur) vieillissement. Pour y répondre, des entretiens semi-directifs complétés par une visite guidée du logement ont été réalisés auprès de 47 couples de jeunes retraités propriétaires. L’analyse est organisée en trois parties. La première cherche à établir dans quelle mesure les jeunes retraités se projettent dans le grand âge et anticipent des adaptations de leur logement. La deuxième explore une logique sociale particulièrement prégnante au sein de cette génération et qui apparaît motrice dans l’« adaptation » des logements : l’aspiration au confort. En effet, les aménagements entrepris en ce sens correspondent pour partie à ce que les professionnels de l’habitat considèrent comme des adaptations du logement. La troisième partie aborde un autre mode d’adaptation de l’habitat souvent évoqué dans les entretiens, pour le présent et pour l’avenir : la mobilité résidentielle. |

| Summary, etc. | This paper aims to provide a better understanding of how housing is adapted in relation to ageing. It offers a different outlook on the issue by focusing on “Baby Boomers” young retirees rather than very elderly people with functional limitations. It studies all the changes the retirees are making, or wish to make, to their houses. The aim of the study is to know to what extent young retirees are anticipating old age and adapting their home to their (forthcoming) ageing. The findings are based on a qualitative study, comprised of an interview and a guided visit of the house of 47 young retiree couples who are home owners. The paper is structured in three parts. The first part aims to examine to what extent the young retirees are planning for old age and are anticipating adaptations to their homes. The second part explores a social phenomenon which is very present in this generation : the search for comfort. An interesting point is that changes in the house made on behalf of comfort are partly similar to what professionals regard as adaptations of housing to ageing. Lastly, the third part deals with another way of adapting housing which is very present in the interviews, for now or in the future : residential mobility. |
