| Summary, etc. | Dans les campagnes françaises, des personnes se débrouillent au quotidien pour s’en sortir avec de faibles revenus, en récupérant, en réparant ou encore en jardinant. Fondé sur dix-sept entretiens téléphoniques menés durant le confinement du printemps 2020, cet article présente l’espace domestique comme scène principale d’existence de ces modes de vie sobres et ruraux. Lieu de vie à part entière, très investi par ses habitants, il fait l’objet d’usages multiples. Il s’étend à la nature environnante et à un réseau d’entraide local, où se prolonge le travail de subsistance. Néanmoins, l’espace domestique reste un support inégal selon les propriétés sociales et les conditions matérielles de chacun et chacune. |

| Summary, etc. | In the French countryside, people manage to get by on a daily basis on low incomes by salvaging, repairing or gardening. Based on seventeen telephone interviews conducted during the spring 2020 lockdown, this article presents the domestic space as the main scene of existence of these sober and rural lifestyles. A lively place in its own right, highly invested by its inhabitants, it is subject to multiple uses. It extends to the surrounding nature and to a local mutual support network, where subsistence work is extended. However, domestic space remains an unequal kind of support according to each person’s social characteristics and material conditions. |
